FORWARD MOTION: MOVED BY THE SPIRIT

FORWARD MOTION: MOVED BY THE SPIRIT

Text: Acts 9:1-17

Acts 17:28  for in Him we live and move and have our being....

We're Leading Them to a Good Land
As I've studied about getting up and going, I've seen the parallel that in the same way God lead the children of Israel to take territory and take their inheritance, he is leading us into promises, not only for us but for others.  They were called to take over kingdoms in the natural and we are called to take over kingdoms in the spirit realm.  We have to good news and we're led by the one and only good God!  The news of Jesus Christ is good!  The kingdom of Jesus Christ is good!  We are called to lead people out of the kingdom of darkness and the rule and reign of the devil and bring people into the kingdom of light, the rule and reign of Jesus.

Now you might say, "Where can I go?  What can I do?"

You Aren't Alone-You're Being Led

The story of Saul who became Paul is the perfect example of how the Holy Spirit orchestrates events in the journeys of our life. (See Acts 9:1-7)

Saul was a persecutor of the church.  He was actually on his way to kill disciples of Jesus, when suddenly, he was interrupted by a bright light that blinded him.  This happened on his journey down the road in his everyday life! This happened suddenly- it was the last thing he was expecting!  God was leading Saul when he was still in sin. Saul didn't know it but he was being set up for a future God knew about but Saul was still in the dark.  Saul was blinded but he didn't know, the same light that blinded him was opening his eyes.  Saul was being translated into the kingdom of light but it wasn't a man's doings!  We need to know there are people God is dealing with and setting up.  The Lord spoke to Saul and told him to go!  He told him to go to a city and there he would be told what to do!  There were men journeying with him who heard God's voice but didn't see the light!  As God deals with us, keep in mind, when we are encountered on our journey he is dealing with those around us too!

While Saul was on his way, God began to speak to a disciple named Ananias.  He told Ananias exactly where to find Saul and what to do.  He was told what to say to Saul.  Ananias had questions but he was willing.  He was a willing, and yielded vessel who received instruction from the Holy Spirit.  Here are two men, one a sinner and one a saint, both being dealt with and set up for the conversion of the man who would write 1/3 of the New Testament; a former persecutor!  If that could happen in the early church it can happen today!  In fact, if it happened in the early church, it is our model of how things should happen today!  When we are yielded to the Holy Spirit, we don't have to worry about where to go.  We will be lead. We just need to do what he tells us.  God will tell us where to go, who to talk to and what to do!

It All Comes Together

When they met, Ananias had the right words and actions for the right man at the right time!  He knew things he wasn't supposed to know about Saul because the Holy Spirit told him.  Truly neither of them had planned a single part of this day!

Acts 9:17 And Ananias went his way and entered the house; and laying his hands on him he said, “Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus, who appeared to you on the road as you came, has sent me that you may receive your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit.” 18 Immediately there fell from his eyes something like scales, and he received his sight at once; and he arose and was baptized.

After Ananias laid hands on Saul, he received his sight back only this time, he was a member of a different kingdom!  All of this happened without the planning of man! It was the planning of God, leading submitted vessels by his Holy Spirit.

As we live submitted to him, he'll use us, lead us, orchestrate and set us up for divine appointments!  It's all about being willing to be moved by a Spirit who is moving and working in the earth today. There are people he  is leading by an unseen hand for a suddenly in their life and there are those of you appointed to speak the Words of Life that bring sight to these ones that are loved by God!  Our confidence is not in our own ability but in his. We just yield and obey!  Amen!
